Another flight!
And here I am. Tomorrow, which will already be today by the time I publish this post, I’m going to Milan, and my future is finally beginning to take shape.
The first steps will be uncertain and, I admit, not driven by much motivation. I wish I could slow time down a little longer. Postpone, for yet another time, this landing which, unlike all the ones before it, feels heavy on my heart.
But I know that all it will take is to piece together the discoveries, to look for excitement in the little things, and little by little, I’ll find my footing in this new chapter, too. Maybe one day I’ll think back to myself, lying on this bed in my favorite place, writing these few troubled lines, and I’ll do so with a smile. The smile of someone who knows that, as always, the story will be one of resilience, the strength needed to absorb every new change.
Until yesterday, I saw this landing as something that would eventually happen. I saw it as a necessary evil, but still a long way off. Today, it’s real, and I wish I had a little more time to prepare myself for a softer landing.
Then I remind myself that I’ve done this so many times before, and every time, I’ve made it through. Of course, in the past, I had a drive and an enthusiasm that, for now, I just don’t have.
In the meantime, while our home sails somewhere between our before and our after, I really need to go and drop off my suitcases before gathering all the things that might, perhaps, help soften the blow. I’ll do it without the comfort of the familiar things that usually surround me. I’ll do it feeling much more fragile, and I hope I’ll be able to find my way through it.
For the first time, I’ve closed a door with sadness, yet with the certainty that it was time to leave. But I can’t seem to open the next one with the lightness and enthusiasm I’ve always felt before…
I hope my new life will be gentle with me and have the patience to give me the time I need to find my balance again.
