That’s one wedding done and dusted!
The past few weeks have been intense, beautiful, and filled with a whirlwind of emotions. Joy and love have been the simple, constant thread running through it all. The stress, which at times felt overwhelming, gradually faded as we approached the big day. Deep down, perhaps I always knew everything would fall perfectly into place. And it did. I wouldn’t change a single thing about this first Salento wedding. Our first wedding at the masseria, our little corner of paradise.
Over the past month, and increasingly in the days leading up to it, I kept telling myself that every piece of the puzzle would eventually find its place, and that even if it didn’t, everything would be fine anyway. In the end, what truly matters is seeing love triumph; everything else is just a detail.
Then, all at once, everything came together perfectly, and the planning unfolded seamlessly. Almost as if by magic, there was nothing left for me to do but relax and step aside for the incredible professionals who turned the wedding into an unforgettable celebration. And after all, being able to enjoy my daughter’s wedding one hundred percent was my priority. One of those rare occasions when you simply leave everything else at the door and make room for nothing but huge smiles and pure happiness.
So, despite a house full of guests and all the logistics that come with it, forty-eight hours before my daughter said “I do,” I transformed from the queen of stress into the picture of calm: it’s done. A feeling of it’s done that I had been waiting for for weeks.
And now, nine days later, that same it’s done fills me with endless joy, seasoned with just a touch of nostalgia. It’s done, and it’s already over.
For days I’ve been telling myself that I wouldn’t change a thing. Everything was simply perfect: from the food to the music, from the delicate floral details to the jars of orange marmalade that became our wedding favors, little gifts our guests will enjoy around the world, bringing back a taste of Puglia with every slice of bread.
Truthfully, we can take very little credit for the success of it all, other than trusting professionals who know exactly how to make a wedding feel truly unique. Perhaps our only real contribution was discovering and restoring this little gem of ours, nestled among the olive trees. What better setting could there be for any celebration? As for the rest, Salento once again amazed us with the professionalism and elegance that define this land and its people.
And now, as Paolo said to me at four in the morning while the last guests were leaving the masseria, in fifty-one weeks we’ll be doing it all over again! But until then, there is only pure joy, because seeing your children beside the right person makes every bit of effort worthwhile.
