Ho deciso che mi riconverto in weeding planner!!
Scherzi a parte, trovo l’esercizio estremamente divertente. Sarà forse che farlo per un figlio ha un carico emotivo tutto speciale, ma comunque l’esercizio mi si addice.
Ho sempre e da sempre amato ricevere. È un qualcosa che mi hanno trasmesso i miei genitori, con la casa sempre aperta, cene pianificate e improvvisate, amici e colleghi benvenuti in ogni momento.
Crescendo ho fatto lo stesso senza mai tirarmi indietro, aprire la porta di casa mia è un qualcosa di naturale. Unire persone e creare momenti di condivisione mi piace. A tutto ciò unisco la passione per la cucina e il gioco è fatto: intorno ad una tavola la vita appare sempre più leggera.
Quale ghiotta occasione questo primo matrimonio in famiglia offre! Apriamo le porte della nostra masseria, del nostro posto del cuore e lo condividiamo con le persone che i nostri giovani sposi hanno scelto.
La pressione sale in questa ultima linea dritta verso il traguardo. Con la pressione la voglia di essere al D Day e viverne tutte le emozioni.
Se dal punto di vista logistico non dobbiamo fare nulla e ci siamo affidati a quelli che paiono essere il must del Salento come servizio di catering, per il resto apriamo pur sempre le porte di casa nostra e tutto deve essere tirato a lucido perché è bello mostrare Le More nella sua veste migliore.
È anche un modo per rendere omaggio a questo luogo che di storia ne ha vista sfilare. La nostra Masseria risale al ‘600), chissà di quanti eventi speciali è stata testimone? Sicuramente tantissimi.
Ci sono comunque mille dettagli ai quali pensare, mille piccole attenzioni per gli ospiti che si stringeranno intorno a noi in questo giorno indimenticabile , piccoli pezzi di un puzzle che il 5 giugno si incastreranno in modo, spero, preciso.
Tornando alla pianificazione in generale trattandosi di un matrimonio con invitati che arrivano da ogni dove, la logistica è leggermente più impegnativa. Li chiamano destination wedding e, ça va sans dire, gli stranieri ne vanno ghiotti. Due piccioni con una fava, essere testimoni di un giorno importante e scoprire un angolo di mondo. E che mondo, aggiungerei nel nostro caso, lo splendido Salento.
Per questo tipo di matrimoni la pianificazione ha tempistiche un pochino diverse: il save the date che precede l’invito ufficiale, va mandato con netto anticipo. Gli invitati devono potersi organizzare, prendere giorni di vacanza, prenotare voli.
Un sito web con tutti i dettagli relativi ad hotel o posti in cui stare, è anche il benvenuto. Un piccolo grande aiuto per la parte logistica in modo che tutti i partecipanti trovino senza troppa fatica il posto giusto . Noi abbiamo fatto un giro di hotel e b&b nei dintorni per offrire ai nostri invitati delle tariffe interessanti, abbiamo trovato molto disponibilità nelle strutture per un gesto commerciale. Tutte ci hanno offerto uno sconto prenotando con il codice ad hoc per noi.
Poi ci sono tanti piccole accortezze importanti quando gli ospiti arrivano da lontano e magari mettono i piedi in un posto e lo scoprono per la prima volta. Loro vengono per rendere la festa gioiosa, e nello stesso tempo c’è, da parte nostra, tanta voglia di trasformare il loro soggiorno in qualcosa di indimenticabile.
Insomma le cose a cui pensare sono tante… più una, l’unica che purtroppo non possiamo controllare, il tempo atmosferico, per quello incrociamo le dita di tutti, invitati compresi, noi non crediamo nel detto sposa bagnata sposa fortunata o meglio preferiamo non provare!!!
Getting Ready for the Wedding
I’ve decided I’m retraining as a wedding planner!!
Jokes aside, I find the whole exercise incredibly fun. Maybe it’s because doing it for a child carries such a special emotional weight, but whatever the reason, it really suits me.
I have always loved welcoming people in. It’s something my parents passed on to me — a home with doors always open, planned and impromptu dinners alike, friends and colleagues welcome at any moment.
Growing up, I did exactly the same, never once holding back. Opening the door to my home has always come naturally to me. I love bringing people together and creating moments to share. Add to that my passion for cooking, and there you have it: life always feels lighter gathered around a table.
And what a wonderful opportunity this first family wedding gives us! We are opening the doors of our masseria, our place of the heart, and sharing it with the people our young couple have chosen to have around them.
The pressure is building now, in this final straight stretch before the finish line. And with that pressure comes the excitement of reaching D-Day and experiencing every emotion that comes with it.
Logistically speaking, we hardly have to lift a finger, having entrusted the catering to what seems to be one of the absolute musts in Salento. But at the end of the day, we are still opening the doors of our own home, and everything must look its very best, because it’s a joy to show Le More in all its beauty.
It’s also a way of paying tribute to a place that has seen centuries of history unfold. Our Masseria dates back to the 1600s, who knows how many special occasions it has witnessed over the years? Countless, I’m sure.
Still, there are a thousand details to think about, a thousand little touches for the guests who will gather around us on this unforgettable day. Tiny pieces of a puzzle that, on June 5th, will hopefully fall perfectly into place.
Speaking more generally about planning, when it comes to a wedding with guests arriving from all over the world, logistics naturally become a little more demanding. They call them destination weddings and, needless to say, foreigners absolutely love them. Killing two birds with one stone: being part of an important day while also discovering a corner of the world. And what a corner of the world ours is, the stunning Salento.
With this kind of wedding, the timeline is slightly different. The save-the-date, which comes before the official invitation, needs to be sent well in advance. Guests need time to organise themselves, take time off work, and book flights.
A website with all the details about hotels and accommodation is also incredibly helpful. A small but significant aid for the logistical side of things, making it easier for everyone to find the right place to stay without too much trouble. We personally visited several hotels and B&Bs nearby to secure special rates for our guests, and we found a great deal of willingness from the local businesses to collaborate. Every single one offered a discount through a dedicated code created just for us.
Then there are all the little thoughtful touches that matter when guests are travelling from far away, often setting foot in a place they are discovering for the very first time. They come to make the celebration joyful, and at the same time, we feel such a strong desire to make their stay truly unforgettable.
In short, there is so much to think about… plus one thing, the only thing we unfortunately cannot control: the weather. For that, all we can do is keep our fingers crossed, guests included. We definitely do not believe in the saying “wet bride, lucky bride”… or rather, we’d prefer not to put it to the test!!!
